Brunch with Chingy and JY at Loysel's Toy (top) was so-so. The Chocolate Banana Tart ($4) was yummy, but their coffee (which was the whole point of the trip?) and service were nothing to rave about, and just about everything else we'd wanted to order was 'not available'. So we trudged off to Food for Thought afterwards for more lazing around. In the middle of our Red Velvet Cake and lattes, we decided to hound Rachel about her pregnancy... and hours later, we received her reply that she'd just given birth earlier that day! There were quite a few jokes made about our annoying messages being the trigger for the birth. :p

When there's nothing to do...

point-and-shoot, already.
I'm sorry for jumping around backdated events. This was brunch at Dempsey's Jones the Grocer with stupid brother a really long time ago. I happened to uncover them (like skeletons in the closet ooh) on my imac only just now. since I leave my laptop in the office most of the days, I have to work on my old but trusty desktop at home. Heh. I love macs...
...Okay. Before I launch into another one of my unceasing tributes to Apple products (someone stop me), I have to say that the smoked salmon tart I had was yum! but a tad expensive though I already can't remember how much it cost me then. Oops. Going there for the casual, lazy ambience that almost begs you to lounge around for hours, as an ideal brunch place should, is always worth a shot. :)

a description without a name.
actually, this is quite overdue stuff. i haven't had much time recently to sort the photos, resize and watermark them so i thought i'd just do it now while waiting for the colloquium to end. chingy, brother, rachel and i (the usual brunch club) went to Riders Cafe near Turf City for breakfast quite a while back. every time i'm upset, i like to have some nice breakfast or brunch on weekday mornings because it cheers me up tremendously? so it's a good thing for me that chingy is still schooling (with me!), and brother is still freelancing, and rachel hasn't found work yet. lol.
P.S. it was raining extremely heavily, so the photos did not really turn out very well due to the lighting.

in the midst of school, there's still you.
yeah, school has started, but this blog is supposed to be about happy things. psst.
so.
it was "open house" at rachel's on monday.
or more like crash-her-house-and-make-her-prepare-food for the rest of us. haha.
had a lovely time catching up with MLA mates i haven't seen in some time; we had a really nice afternoon sitting around watching tv and eating... until i started to have the dreaded monthly cramps and decided to crawl home.
have a happy period~
indeed.
photos below are taken with a new app recommended by brother (who just got an iPhone 4): Pudding Camera.
i'm still testing it out... but so far i like what i see.
our pretty host.
it drains my iPhone 3G battery amazingly fast though...

wake up and smell the coffee.
Brunch is no doubt the happiest meal of the day. :)
Having seen gorgeous pictures of Eggs Benedict, I was convinced that I just had to try something that looked as yummy as it. Prive is actually my second attempt to satisfy the craving, after a failed first one with brother because we arrived just a tad too late for breakfast at Jones the Grocer (they do have nice smoked salmon pie, though).
I (we) did not leave disappointed. The Eggs Ben was just right, with the eggs perfectly poached and the sauce buttery enough. The ambience was laidback, and the staff were very attentive. We had to keep inching towards the receding shade because of the creeping sun, but it was probably our fault since we chose that table out of so many empty ones.
Three hours later, we left feeling very blissful and contented.
